Private Gardens

At Campsie View Care Home in Kirkintilloch, we are proud to offer three secure and fully accessible private gardens, designed to be enjoyed all year round by residents of all abilities. These gardens provide safe outdoor spaces for relaxation, socialising and engaging in gardening activities that bring a sense of purpose and connection to nature. From shaded areas with gazebos and parasols to raised beds perfect for wheelchair users, the gardens are thoughtfully created to encourage participation and enjoyment in the fresh air.

Two of our gardens serve the ground-floor dementia units, offering calm, secure retreats for residents needing gentle stimulation and peace. The third garden at the rear supports the upper-floor community, ensuring all residents have access to outdoor spaces tailored to their needs and preferences.

Accessible and Engaging Outdoor Spaces

Our gardens are designed with accessibility at their core, allowing residents to comfortably explore and interact with the natural surroundings. Raised beds provide easy access for green-fingered individuals who use wheelchairs, with opportunities for residents to help select plants and participate in planting. The inclusion of water features and scented plants creates a sensory-rich environment that supports reminiscence and relaxation.

Throughout the year, the outdoor spaces host a range of activities to bring residents together, including sunflower growing competitions, walking groups, and garden games. These purposely organised events encourage fresh air and movement, contributing to overall well-being in a fun and social atmosphere.

Year-Round Enjoyment and Activities

Campsie View’s gardens are alive with seasonal activities that cater to every interest. Outdoor lunches and BBQs become a regular feature in warmer months, allowing residents to enjoy meals surrounded by nature. Reminiscence sessions held in the gardens invite conversation and stories sparked by the sights, smells, and textures of the outdoors.

We make sure that garden access is possible in all seasons, with shaded seating areas to offer comfort during sunnier days and shelter from wind whenever needed. Whether it’s a calm moment of reflection or a lively group activity, our gardens provide a natural extension of life inside the home.
